How to use this calculator

Use net worked hours after unpaid breaks. Enter a threshold covering the same period. Regular hours are the smaller of total hours and the threshold. Any remaining minutes are labeled overtime for this scenario.

Formula

Regular hours = min(Net hours, Threshold); Overtime hours = max(0, Net hours − Threshold)

Worked example

45 hours 30 minutes with a 40-hour threshold gives 40 regular hours and 5 hours 30 minutes above the threshold. A total below 40 hours gives zero overtime.

Assumptions and limits

This is a duration comparison, not payroll or legal advice. Daily thresholds, exemptions, paid leave, contracts and local rules are not modeled. No overtime rate or pay is calculated.

Frequently asked questions

Does this determine my legal overtime entitlement?

No. You supply a threshold for planning. Actual entitlement and pay depend on the applicable rules and employment arrangement.

Are the results decimal hours or clock time?

Both are shown where useful. Decimal hours divide minutes by 60; a duration such as 7 h 30 min is 7.5 hours.

Are my times uploaded?

No. Calculations run in your browser. Saved inputs remain on this device until reset or cleared in browser site-data settings.
